The Ex-Girlfriend Song

Well now, you’re a little drama queen
When you don’t get what you want you sure get mean
I paid the price, left you, and you turned green
And that’s all right by me

Though when you’re in your therapy
Make you sure you talk about putting all the blame on me
Get those thoughts in your head out for all to see
So you might make yourself better

Also tell her what I was going through
And the content of your emails I stopped reading too
So she can form a picture and have a clue
Of how one just might help you

And I’d like you to play this song in session
And talk about the content as the basis for a lesson
But I doubt you will, because I’m guessin’
It just don’t make you look good

Now I know how important it is for you to be
Right about everything so everyone can see
How just you are with your acrimony
But that just ain’t the truth

Now I really do want you to get better
That’s why I’m writing this singsong letter
But most of all, just stop thinking you’re better
Than everyone else you know

If you ate a slice of humble pie
Your world would open up and you would start to thrive
And maybe, just maybe, so would your third eye —
Sure beats the hell outta fightin’

Now when we first went out you sure were sweet
But you got man issues and that’s akin to defeat
So you went back to being a brutish teat
And I didn’t know what hit me

Now being sweet ain’t the egregious part
It’s that you gotta finish the way you start
Just don’t put the horse before the cart
And to thine own self be true

Now I really do want you to get better
And that’s why I wrote this singsong letter
But most of all, stop thinking you’re better
Than everyone else you know
